A suspected burglar slipped and fell to his death while climbing the building to escape

Police said on Friday that a suspected burglar slipped and fell to his death while climbing up a building in Sheung Shui after successfully stealing from an apartment.

The owner of the house made a call earlier to alert the police about a stranger trying to break into their apartment at Tin Hee House of Tin Ping Estate on Thursday evening.

However, the next call made before the officers arrived was the news of the same person unconsciously lying on a platform at the building.

Police said it was believed the man slipped and fell while escaping with his loot.

It was reported that a ring worth about HK$2,000 reported stolen was found on him.

警方週五表示，一名疑似竊賊成功從上水一處公寓行竊後，在爬上一棟大樓時滑倒墜落。

該屋主較早前致電警方，表示週四晚上有陌生人試圖闖入其位於天平村天熙樓的公寓。 然而，在警察到達之前撥打的下一個電話卻得知，同一個人不省人事地躺在大樓的平台上。

警方表示，據信該名男子在攜帶贓物逃跑時滑倒。

據報道，他身上發現一枚價值約2,000港元的被盜戒指。
