Hong Kong Observatory issued a "very hot weather" warning on Friday, which continues through the weekend

Hong Kong Observatory forecasts the temperatures may rise to 34°C on Saturday and Sunday.


The "very hot weather" warning was issued by Hong Kong Observatory at 6:45 am on Friday with a prolonged heat alert and it is expected to continue through the weekend.


Hong Kong Observatory stated, “Under the influence of the subtropical ridge, the weather is generally fine over the coast of Guangdong".


“The maximum temperature will be around 33°C in the urban areas and a couple of degrees higher in the New Territories".


“Under the influence of prolonged heat, members of the public should stay on alert to prevent heatstroke or other discomforts related to very hot weather and pay due attention to health conditions.” it was added.


The forecast said that the temperatures may rise to 34 degrees Celsius on Saturday and Sunday.


According to the Observatory’s latest climate projections, Hong Kong could see as many as 80 very hot days by mid-century under the highest greenhouse gas emission scenario.


The Labour Department also issued an amber heat stress at work warning at 8.50 am. It indicates high heat stress in certain working places in Hong Kong.


The department said that all outdoor workers are urged to take all necessary precautions against hot weather under the guidelines of the department.


Centre for Health Protection additionally reached out to the public to take extra care of elderly people, pregnant women and children, and watch out for any heatstroke symptoms.

「市區最高氣溫約攝氏33度,新界最高溫則高出幾度」。


“受持續高溫影響,公眾應保持警惕,防止中暑或其他酷暑不適,並注意健康狀況。”


天氣預報稱,週六和週日氣溫可能升至 34 攝氏度。


根據天文台最新的氣候預測,在溫室氣體排放最高的情境下,到本世紀中葉,香港可能會出現多達80天的酷熱天氣。


勞工部也在上午 8.50 發布了黃色工作中熱應激警告。 它表明某些工作環境中存在高熱壓力。


該部門表示,敦促所有戶外工作人員根據該部門的指導方針,採取必要的預防措施來應對炎熱的天氣。


衛生防護中心也呼籲民眾加強照顧長者、孕婦和兒童,並留意是否有中暑症狀。
